The Minstrel Open Stage is the place where a diverse collection of acoustic musicians perform for a welcoming, supportive and attentive audience. We're a listening room, not a noisy bar!
The Minstrel Open Stage is located at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship and is generally held on the 2nd Friday of each month, but please check The Minstrel Acoustic Concert Series for schedule changes.
Admission is $5.00 at the door and free for Folk Project members and anyone under the age of twenty-five.
Free-will donations are encouraged.
Our New Format
Several performance slots are selected in advance by lottery. To enter the lottery, submit your request via email on the first of the month to firstname.lastname@example.org You will be notified as to whether you will have a guaranteed slot via e-mail one week prior to the Open Stage. If not, you can be part of the on-site lottery at the event and will still likely get to perform, but that will depend on how many people are participating.
All those wishing to perform at the Open Stage (including those with reserved slots) should be present by 7:00 pm on the night of the show. At that time all performers' names will be placed in a hat and drawn at random throughout the evening. Each performer will play two songs. After everyone has had a turn, a second lottery will take place. In this second set, each performer will be allowed one song. If there is time, a third lottery will take place. At 10:00 pm, the all-inclusive jam session begins. Everyone is encouraged to stay and participate. It's been said the jam is the most fun part of the evening!
In the past we've "discovered" new acts at our Open Stage who have then been offered a Featured Act at a future Open Stage and, in some cases, invited to be the Opening Act for the Minstrel Concert Series.
Hope to see you soon at the Minstrel Open Stage!
