Location: Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown, NJ, a smoke & alcohol free environment. DIRECTIONS

Admission: On May 31st, Troubadour is changing its admission price from $10 with a heavy emphasis on donations to a set $20 admission price / $15 for Members. Children 12 and under may attend free, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Conjuring up echoes of the late lamented Canadian group “Finest Kind”, Windborne is a harmony-driven quartet of 30-somethings who revel in the vocal traditions of the British Isles and early American folk song. To this they add vocal harmony traditions around the world from the Balkans to South Africa. They sing either acapella, or with spare accompaniment on banjo, fiddle, and percussion.

Chris Koch is a seasoned singer-songwriter with three albums to his credit. Teeter Gray’s Blue Love (2004) was a collection of country/Americana-flavored pop with performances by Eric Weisberg (Dueling Banjos), pedal steel maestro John Widgren and renowned violinist Charlie Burnham. Scenes from the Coastal Evacuation (2008) is a heavier, more ambient and layered collection of dystopian sermons. And QWERT’s Book of M (2024) returns to the light with ten “Old man love songs.”

Verch, a former Canadian Fiddling Champion, has toured extensively and earned numerous accolades while Newberry, celebrated for his clawhammer banjo and songwriting, has received multiple IBMA awards. Together, they create a dynamic show blending fiddle, banjo, step dancing, and original songs with timeless classics. Their performances are a heartfelt celebration of their musical roots and stories, leaving audiences enchanted by their powerful harmonies and energetic rhythms. Their upcoming concert will celebrate the upcoming Holidays and bring Holiday Cheer.

With his newest release, award-winning singer-songwriter Dave Murphy—dubbed a “musical Raymond Carver”—carries his audiences on a fearless, heartfelt journey towards surrender and redemption. A migration through seasons of loss and gain, joy and sorrow makes his seventh studio album, A Heart So Rare, his most honest, and compelling collection yet. It features guest appearances by James Maddock and Mark Erelli. Holiday Show to Benefit the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Project’s annual Holiday concert to benefit MUUF will be a wonderful of evening of music, goodies, and…well, fellowship. It will also be an occasion for our two great communities to unite, and the proceeds will be donated to the Fellowship.

The musicians are drawn from the cream of MUUF and Project performers: Darrell and Mary Courtley, Todd Dennison and Andrew Dunn, Rob Horowitz and Amy Kleiman, Christine DeLeon, and a truly special secret guest. And, the night will be headlined by rising star Carol Crittenden.

We’ll also have caroling starting at 7:00, and spectacular refreshments.

Their bond is rooted in proximity, strengthened by a blue-collar passion for picking, and buoyed by their shared propensity for roots music and whiskey.  Formed in 2015, the current line-up of Joe Cirotti: guitar, Pete Lister: upright bass, and Timmy Coyle: mandolin and guitar, continues to craft a sound steeped in tradition yet infused with modern twists.

Kenny White is a world touring singer-songwriter and an accomplished pianist and guitarist. He can move an audience from laughter and tears — often within the same song — and his achievements on stage, television, and movies are inspiring. He’s worked with such luminaries as Jonathan Edwards, Livingston Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Gladys Knight, Mavis Staples, Ricky Skaggs, Aaron Neville and Judy Collins. Kenny’s also produced and arranged hundreds of commercials for TV and radio, including Chevrolet, Coca Cola, and “The Unsinkable Taste of Cheerios.” Kenny’s the real deal.

Toby Walker is an award winning guitarist and entertainer who tours the US, United Kingdom, and Europe. He was the 1st place recipient of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and has been inducted into the NY Blues Hall Of Fame.

Walker has taught at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch, The Swanannoa Gathering, and many other guitar camps. He also has eight instructional DVD’s on Homespun Music Instruction.

Walker traveled to the deep south where he studied with traditional blues and folk musicians such as Eugene Powell, James “Son” Thomas, and Etta Baker

Robin Schaffer is a singer/songwriter who prefers not to sing, so she’s asked five of her favorite Folk Project friends and performers to sing tonight (so she doesn’t have to). She is delighted to present Elizabeth (Betsy Rose) Lachowicz, Jean Scully, Kathy Moser, Tina Ross, and Christine DeLeon as her “Imposter Roster.” Robin is a product of the Folk Project’s mission to develop local artists through workshops, open stages, members shows and music parties. And although she received accolades within the wider Project community as a noted and accomplished songwriter, she is best known for marrying the guy who hires opening acts at the Troubadour.

Ellis Paul is a songwriter, author, illustrator, and teacher. He has been a constant presence on the American folk circuit for over thirty years. In that time, he has released twenty two albums of original music and performed over 5,000 shows. His songs have made their into big screen features including blockbuster films such as: Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal and Hall Pass, as well as having been recorded by Grammy award winning country artists.

His work has been described as descriptive narratives of people at a crossroads in their lives. Despite the nature of these stories, the humanity in the writing makes them about all of us.

His stage performance is a combination of humor, improv, and poignant story songs. He has performed on stages at the Newport Folk Festival, Carnegie Hall, clubs and coffeehouses all over the world, and was awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Maine and inducted into the Maine Music Hall of Fame. He has received numerous award including fifteen Boston Music Awards and the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award. His album released in 2019, The Storyteller’s Suitcase, was named NERFA album of the year and he was named IAMA International Acoustic Artist of the Year. His most recent album “55”, further deepens his reputation as one of folk music’s finest touring artists.

Burrie Jenkins is a New England Based Guitarist and Singer Songwriter. Originally from the New York area, and now living in Western Massachusetts. “I did go to a music school in Boston, but I forgot what I learned.  He was influenced by the music of the 60`s and 70`s and Bands out of San Francisco such as Jefferson Airplane and The Dead.

Burrie`s Songs are rooted in the entire tapestry of the American lexicon. “I did spend some time looking at classical Indian Ragas as well as the music of J.S. Bach .. My dad loved Brazilian Jazz and even Opera , we had every Beatles record in our house for sure.”

Holiday Show to Benefit the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Project’s annual Holiday concert to benefit MUUF will be a wonderful of evening of music, goodies, and…well, fellowship. It will also be an occasion for our two great communities to unite, and the proceeds will be donated to the Fellowship.

The musicians are drawn from the cream of MUUF and Project performers: Darrell and Mary Courtley, Todd Dennison and Andrew Dunn, Rob Horowitz and Amy Kleiman, Christine DeLeon, and a truly special secret guest. And, the night will be headlined by rising star Carol Crittenden.

We’ll also have caroling starting at 7:00, and spectacular refreshments.

Toby Walker is an award winning guitarist and entertainer who tours the US, United Kingdom, and Europe. He was the 1st place recipient of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and has been inducted into the NY Blues Hall Of Fame.

Walker has taught at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch, The Swanannoa Gathering, and many other guitar camps. He also has eight instructional DVD’s on Homespun Music Instruction.

Walker traveled to the deep south where he studied with traditional blues and folk musicians such as Eugene Powell, James “Son” Thomas, and Etta Baker

Robin Schaffer is a singer/songwriter who prefers not to sing, so she’s asked five of her favorite Folk Project friends and performers to sing tonight (so she doesn’t have to). She is delighted to present Elizabeth (Betsy Rose) Lachowicz, Jean Scully, Kathy Moser, Tina Ross, and Christine DeLeon as her “Imposter Roster.” Robin is a product of the Folk Project’s mission to develop local artists through workshops, open stages, members shows and music parties. And although she received accolades within the wider Project community as a noted and accomplished songwriter, she is best known for marrying the guy who hires opening acts at the Troubadour.

Ellis Paul is a songwriter, author, illustrator, and teacher. He has been a constant presence on the American folk circuit for over thirty years. In that time, he has released twenty two albums of original music and performed over 5,000 shows. His songs have made their into big screen features including blockbuster films such as: Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal and Hall Pass, as well as having been recorded by Grammy award winning country artists.

His work has been described as descriptive narratives of people at a crossroads in their lives. Despite the nature of these stories, the humanity in the writing makes them about all of us.

His stage performance is a combination of humor, improv, and poignant story songs. He has performed on stages at the Newport Folk Festival, Carnegie Hall, clubs and coffeehouses all over the world, and was awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Maine and inducted into the Maine Music Hall of Fame. He has received numerous award including fifteen Boston Music Awards and the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award. His album released in 2019, The Storyteller’s Suitcase, was named NERFA album of the year and he was named IAMA International Acoustic Artist of the Year. His most recent album “55”, further deepens his reputation as one of folk music’s finest touring artists.

Burrie Jenkins is a New England Based Guitarist and Singer Songwriter. Originally from the New York area, and now living in Western Massachusetts. “I did go to a music school in Boston, but I forgot what I learned.  He was influenced by the music of the 60`s and 70`s and Bands out of San Francisco such as Jefferson Airplane and The Dead.

Burrie`s Songs are rooted in the entire tapestry of the American lexicon. “I did spend some time looking at classical Indian Ragas as well as the music of J.S. Bach .. My dad loved Brazilian Jazz and even Opera , we had every Beatles record in our house for sure.”

Conjuring up echoes of the late lamented Canadian group “Finest Kind”, Windborne is a harmony-driven quartet of 30-somethings who revel in the vocal traditions of the British Isles and early American folk song. To this they add vocal harmony traditions around the world from the Balkans to South Africa. They sing either acapella, or with spare accompaniment on banjo, fiddle, and percussion.

Chris Koch is a seasoned singer-songwriter with three albums to his credit. Teeter Gray’s Blue Love (2004) was a collection of country/Americana-flavored pop with performances by Eric Weisberg (Dueling Banjos), pedal steel maestro John Widgren and renowned violinist Charlie Burnham. Scenes from the Coastal Evacuation (2008) is a heavier, more ambient and layered collection of dystopian sermons. And QWERT’s Book of M (2024) returns to the light with ten “Old man love songs.”

The Folk Project Open Stage, North Jersey’s premier open  stage, is back live on the second  Friday of every month. The  Main Stage features two-song (or  ten  minutes, whichever is shorter) sign-up slots for our audience. To sign up to perform email Chairman Todd at openstage@folkproject.org.

Cheryl Wheeler is a gifted songwriter with a beautiful voice and she’s a natural story teller with a fantastic sense of humor. Her funny songs are legendary. Her stage presence is all-consuming. Her audiences ride a rollercoaster of sincere emotions, telling insights, and hysterically funny commentary.

Cheryl’s songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Dan Seals, Peter Paul and Mary, Kenny Loggins, Garth Brooks, Suzy Boggus, Melanie, Bette Midler, Maura O’Connell, Sylvia, Kathy Mattea, and Holly Near.

Kenny White is a world touring singer-songwriter and an accomplished pianist and guitarist. He can move an audience from laughter and tears — often within the same song — and his achievements on stage, television, and movies are inspiring. He’s worked with such luminaries as Jonathan Edwards, Livingston Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Gladys Knight, Mavis Staples, Ricky Skaggs, Aaron Neville and Judy Collins. Kenny’s also produced and arranged hundreds of commercials for TV and radio, including Chevrolet, Coca Cola, and “The Unsinkable Taste of Cheerios.” Kenny’s the real deal.

Toby Walker is an award winning guitarist and entertainer who tours the US, United Kingdom, and Europe. He was the 1st place recipient of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and has been inducted into the NY Blues Hall Of Fame.

Walker has taught at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch, The Swanannoa Gathering, and many other guitar camps. He also has eight instructional DVD’s on Homespun Music Instruction.

Walker traveled to the deep south where he studied with traditional blues and folk musicians such as Eugene Powell, James “Son” Thomas, and Etta Baker

Robin Schaffer is a singer/songwriter who prefers not to sing, so she’s asked five of her favorite Folk Project friends and performers to sing tonight (so she doesn’t have to). She is delighted to present Elizabeth (Betsy Rose) Lachowicz, Jean Scully, Kathy Moser, Tina Ross, and Christine DeLeon as her “Imposter Roster.” Robin is a product of the Folk Project’s mission to develop local artists through workshops, open stages, members shows and music parties. And although she received accolades within the wider Project community as a noted and accomplished songwriter, she is best known for marrying the guy who hires opening acts at the Troubadour.

Ellis Paul

Ellis Paul is a songwriter, author, illustrator, and teacher. He has been a constant presence on the American folk circuit for over thirty years. In that time, he has released twenty two albums of original music and performed over 5,000 shows. His songs have made their into big screen features including blockbuster films such as: Me, Myself & Irene, Shallow Hal and Hall Pass, as well as having been recorded by Grammy award winning country artists.

His work has been described as descriptive narratives of people at a crossroads in their lives. Despite the nature of these stories, the humanity in the writing makes them about all of us.

His stage performance is a combination of humor, improv, and poignant story songs. He has performed on stages at the Newport Folk Festival, Carnegie Hall, clubs and coffeehouses all over the world, and was awarded an Honorary Degree from the University of Maine and inducted into the Maine Music Hall of Fame. He has received numerous award including fifteen Boston Music Awards and the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award. His album released in 2019, The Storyteller’s Suitcase, was named NERFA album of the year and he was named IAMA International Acoustic Artist of the Year. His most recent album “55”, further deepens his reputation as one of folk music’s finest touring artists.

Burrie Jenkins is a New England Based Guitarist and Singer Songwriter. Originally from the New York area, and now living in Western Massachusetts. “I did go to a music school in Boston, but I forgot what I learned.  He was influenced by the music of the 60`s and 70`s and Bands out of San Francisco such as Jefferson Airplane and The Dead.

Burrie`s Songs are rooted in the entire tapestry of the American lexicon. “I did spend some time looking at classical Indian Ragas as well as the music of J.S. Bach .. My dad loved Brazilian Jazz and even Opera , we had every Beatles record in our house for sure.”
