Trip McCool and The Old School
Trip McCool is the vehicle, the engine and the spare tire that I write songs for. When I was in first grade I stood up in a school assembly and sang ‘The Moonshiner’ for my Catholic School. Pretty soon Father Halisey was talking to my parents about what was appropriate for his little people. (I did notice him chuckling and humming along though.) It seems I couldn’t wait to get into the pub. After beating all my favorite Clancy Brothers and Dubliners songs into submission, I thought, “Why don’t I write some new songs for the Clancy Brothers?” Well they are all dead for one. So I just invented my own Irish pub singer, “Trip McCool”. Dennis Dougherty
Charlyn and Dennis Dougherty have been performing as ‘Trip McCool and The Old School’ for festivals, concerts and pubs for years. They make noise with Accordion, Tin Whistle and Guitar.
The new album “A Happy Old Man”, is the 4th album of original songs. Their last effort “Hang Me Out To Dry” went to #7 on the folk charts.
