Dave Rupp & Strings on Wings

Swingin' Tern presents Dave Rupp with Strings on Wings

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Rupp calling contras for dancin’ not sittin’
Moving to hot music from Strings on Wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Bright smiling faces and crisp petronellas
Twirls and whirls and sashays with fellas
Swingin’ Tern dancers with the tunes on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Spin out into lines for down the hall dashes
Silver-white gentlemen melt into swings
These are a few of my favorite things

When the news bites
When the text stings
Politics so sad
I simply come dance to my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Our mask policy is based on the current rating for Morris County from the CDC. At the Orange level, masks [N/KN-95 or surgical] are required on all dance lines.  If Morris County drops into the Yellow or Green level, we will have two dance lines. One line will be Mask Required and one line will be Mask Optional. At any dance, we may announce that masks are required in all lines.

Proof of vaccination must be presented at the door or may be sent in advance—see full Covid protocol below.

Dave Rupp has been an active dancer and caller in the Philadelphia region since the 90’s, calling regularly at the Mt Airy Thursday Night Contra, and at dances in Princeton and Arden, DE.  He has also called at the Valley Contra in Bethlehem, and at dances in Baltimore and Glen Echo, MD.  Dave enjoys calling a varied program of dances with good humor and an energetic style.

Strings On Wings springs out of the musical and personal partnership of Barb Schmid and Todd Clewell, the frontline fiddlers for The Contra Rebels.  Barb, who also fiddles as part of the four-woman band Ladies in the parlor, gets to shine as the solo fiddler with Todd sliding into the rhythm chair on guitar.  In this trio configuration of Strings On Wings, they are joined by Aaron Blouin, who adds his sonorous bass to the band sound.
